As COVID-19 continues on, many airlines or countries now ask for proof of a negative COVID-19 test within a specific timeframe before travel. With FlyClear by LifeLabs, you can order a COVID-19 PCR/NAAT swab and Antibody test(s) online; get tested and receive your test results within 24-48 hours**, allowing you to travel with peace of mind.

Determine which COVID-19 tests you need
Depending on your travel destination, you may be required to get one or both types of COVID-19 tests – an active infection test done by molecular PCR/NAAT and/or a COVID-19 Antibody blood test. Requirements vary from country to country, so you are strongly encouraged to check requirements for flight clearance before you order your tests through FlyClear.

To get started, on this webpage, enter in your flight details to determine when to schedule your test appointment(s). This is necessary to ensure you get your test results in time before your flight departure.

Order your COVID-19 testing online
If you are eligible to get testing done within the available timeframe, you will be directed to complete a screening questionnaire to ensure that you meet FlyClear’s safety criteria. Next, you will be required to input all your information, accept the FlyClear™ Terms & Conditions and then complete your payment online. If you are travelling with multiple individuals and need FlyClear™ testing for multiple travelers, you will need to complete this order process for each traveler.
Please note: you must input information EXACTLY as it is laid out on your passport. If the information is not entered correctly, the traveler accepts the risk of the destination travel authorities rejecting their documentation.

Get Tested
COVID-19 PCR/NAAT swab test: Book your test appointment for the COVID-19 PCR swab test at one of the participating FlyClear™ locations by calling them directly based on your location preference. You will be required to answer their intake questions over the phone when booking the appointment.
COVID-19 Antibody (serology) blood test: If your FlyClear™ order includes a COVID-19 Antibody test, book your appointment for the COVID-19 Antibody blood draw at a LifeLabs location by using the LifeLabs appointment booking tool. Please note: both participating FlyClear™ and LifeLabs locations REQUIRE appointments. Your email confirmation will provide detailed instructions on how to contact participating FlyClear™ Locations and LifeLabs to schedule your appointment(s). Visit the respective locations at your scheduled appointment time(s) with a printed copy of your Test Requisition(s).
Please note: You MUST bring the printed requisition(s) to your scheduled appointment(s). All requisitions for all tests for each respective traveler MUST be brought to appointment(s) by the traveler(s). The FlyClear™ locations will not be able to complete your testing if you do not bring the printed requisition. You MUST bring your passport identification to your scheduled appointment(s). Valid passport documentation for each respective traveler MUST be brought to your appointment(s). FlyClear™ and LifeLabs locations will not be able to complete your sample collection if you do not bring your passport.

Receive your test results
Depending on your travel destination and test(s) ordered, you will receive specific result documentation which you will access via links provided by email. Please see the Results section below to understand what results/letters/forms will be available to you based on the testing ordered and your travel destination.
The calculator tool on this webpage uses the destination testing requirements and your flight information (both of which you have provided) to determine an ideal time to book your test appointment. It takes into account the time it takes to get your test result (i.e. within 48 hours), to ensure you will have your results in time for your departure. If the calculator says there is not enough time, it is not recommended that you purchase a test through FlyClear.
No. LifeLabs only offers FlyClear™ COVID-19 swab and Antibody testing to individuals through its participating FlyClear™ and LifeLabs locations. Participating FlyClear™ locations will provide the COVID-19 swab testing (various locations are listed on this webpage), and LifeLabs patient service centres will provide the COVID-19 Antibody blood testing.
For information on COVID-19 related travel restrictions and government regulations, please refer to the International Air Transport Association website at https://www.iata.org/
Some destinations specify a window of time between getting tested for COVID-19 and your flight (i.e. within 72 hours of boarding). Please check with your airline as well as your travelling destination to ensure you fully understand their pre-flight testing protocols. You can then use our online tool (on this webpage) to help you calculate the ideal time to book your test appointment so that you get your results in time.
The COVID-19 swab test is a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), which tells you if you have COVID-19 at the time of the test. The test uses a sample collected from a buccal bilateral anterior nasal swab. The swab first goes between the lower gums and is rotated 3 times, this is then repeated on the other side of the mouth. It then goes 1-1.5cm into the nasal cavity, the staff swirls the swab for 15 seconds and then performs the same procedure on the second nasal cavity. The test will not tell you if you had COVID-19 in the past.
FlyClear™ offers COVID-19 testing by appointment and aims to deliver the results necessary for your travel destination within 48 hours of your appointment, to ensure you get your results within the time window required by your destination country. The provincial healthcare system does not provide a physician letter and does not accommodate testing for travelers.
COVID-19 tests do not have a validity period and tests are a snapshot in time. Countries have different guidelines on the length of time after a test during which you may travel to that country based on a health certificate. Always check these guidelines carefully yourself and plan your appointment accordingly so that your certificate is still valid when you travel to a country.
Antibodies are proteins generated by the immune response to infections. They have many anti-viral functions, such as preventing viral entry into host cells. The antibodies can be produced even if a person has few or no symptoms during the infection. COVID-19 Antibody blood test detects antibodies reactive to SARS-CoV-2 viral proteins. This test can be used to assess recent or previous infection with SARS-CoV-2.
The molecular COVID-19 swab test (e.g. polymerase chain reaction/nucleic acid amplification test) detects SARS-CoV-2 genetic material and is used to diagnose an active COVID-19 infection. A sample type used in molecular testing is a bi-lateral nasal (NS) swab. The COVID-19 Antibody test is a blood test to detect antibodies to the virus. Results of the test show whether you had a recent or prior COVID-19 infection. The Antibody test is not to be used for diagnosis of active COVID-19 infection.
At this time, it is not known if the presence of antibodies to COVID-19 means you are immune to the virus and protected from re-infection. Importantly, it is not known how long antibody response to COVID-19 virus lasts. Based on current studies, antibodies to COVID-19 virus can be detected up to 4 months’ post-exposure, but levels vary depending on individual immune response as well as disease severity, with levels higher in severe and lower in milder/asymptomatic cases.

A COVID-19 PCR/NAAT swab test through FlyClear costs $199 + applicable tax per test. This includes the appointment at a participating FlyClear location for specimen collection and physician letter along with the test results. If you are travelling to Hawaii, you will be provided your results and the Hawaii-specific Trusted Partner COVID-19 Test Result Reporting Form.
A COVID-19 Antibody (serology) blood test through FlyClear costs $75 + applicable tax per test. This includes the appointment at a LifeLabs patient service centre for sample collection and your test results.
You will need to complete the screening, ordering and purchasing process individually for each traveler who requires testing.
Please note: you must input information EXACTLY as it is laid out on your passport. If the information is not entered correctly, the traveler accepts the risk of the destination travel authorities rejecting their documentation.
At this time, the customer does not have the ability to update the information they inputted during the order process. Customers will need to request a refund (see refund process) and generate a new order with the correct information.
LifeLabs/ the FlyClear™ locations will NOT be able to correct your information for you at this time.
Refunds will be available up until the time of sample collection. In addition, LifeLabs will provide a refund if LifeLabs is unable to deliver your test result within 48 hours after your sample collection, or if the test result is ‘invalid’ or ‘indeterminate’.
To request a refund, please return to your original order confirmation email and click the secure link. You will be required to enter the passcode you created when you ordered your test. From there, you will see a button to request a refund. Refunds will be returned to the credit card used for purchase.
Once you submit a request for a refund, your requisition will automatically be canceled and will not be accepted at your appointment.
Please note, it can take up to a week for refund requests to be processed and issued.

Testing from home: MyVisit offers COVID-19 pre-departure testing for FlyClear travellers in the Greater Toronto Area.
MyVisit Pre-departure testing provides:
- COVID-19 PCR/NAAT swab testing
- COVID-19 Antibody Blood testing
The MyVisit fee is $80 per person.
Booking a MyVisit appointment
- Order your FlyClear test and receive your FlyClear test requisition.
- Book your Home Visit appointment with the MyVisit portal or, if your flight is within the next five days, contact a MyVisit coordinator 1-416-993-9579 (Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm EST)
For COVID-19 PCR/NAAT swab testing, travellers are advised that they must coordinate an appointment time with the participating FlyClear by LifeLabs locations. Customers are responsible to book their appointment within the appropriate testing time window as outlined by their destination country testing requirements.
For COVID-19 Antibody testing, if you cannot find an appointment slot online at your desired LifeLabs location, please call 1-877-313-4982 (Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm EST).
LifeLabs Customer Information Centre will do their best to slot you in to an appointment time that works for your testing window.
If you cannot find available appointment time slot(s), we will gladly issue a refund. Please see our Refund process under the Payment section.
You MUST bring a printed copy of your COVID-19 lab test requisition(s) to your FlyClear appointment(s). You can NOT use your phone to show the requisition(s) or email the file(s). All requisitions for all tests for their respective travelers MUST be printed and brought to appointment(s) with the traveler(s).
You must also bring your Passport. FlyClear and LifeLabs staff will be required to verify your ID prior to collecting the sample.
Please note: If you forget your Passport, we will NOT be able to complete your sample collection.
Immediately following purchase confirmation, you will receive an email with a secure link to access your personalized testing requisition(s). If you purchased both COVID-19 swab and Antibody testing, the link within your confirmation email will contain two requisitions. If you have multiple travellers you purchased tests for, you will receive multiple emails. Please ensure to print off all testing requisition(s) for every traveller for every test(s) purchased.
COVID-19 PCR/NAAT swab test: please call the FlyClear partner location directly to cancel your appointment.
COVID-19 Antibody (serology) blood test: you can change your appointment online at www.lifelabs.com/book-an-appointment
FlyClear™ aims to deliver your COVID-19 test results within 48 hours of your collection appointment. You will receive an email with a secure link to access your test results. If you purchased both COVID-19 PCR/NAAT swab and Antibody testing, you will receive 2 separate emails with your results. Please ensure to read all your documentation CAREFULLY. The traveler is responsible for understanding their results and the implications for travel.
Link to results will only be shared through the email access provided at the time of order creation. If your email address is being used to receive results of your relative, then you are deemed to have been obtained consent from the traveler to receive result link in your email.
COVID-19 PCR/NAAT swab testing: Within the link in your results email you will have both a doctor’s letter and your lab results.
The doctor’s letter will have:
- Date of issue
- Date of sample collection
- Name on passport
- Date of birth
- Passport number
- Nationality
- Gender
The results report will have the below fields:
- Result
- Testing methodology used
- Date and time of sample collection
- Date and time of report
- Name on passport
- Date of birth
- Age
- Phone number
Please note, if you are travelling to Hawaii, you will be provided your results and the Hawaii-specific Trusted Partner COVID-19 Test Result Reporting Form. LifeLabs is currently partnered with Air Canada, United Airlines (operated by Air Canada), and WestJet. You must be travelling on one of these flights to receive the Airline specific Hawaii results template.
COVID-19 Antibody testing: within the link in your results email you will find your lab results.
Please note: some countries only require the lab result report. It is advised that the customer review their destination’s entry requirements and ensure they bring all necessary documentation with them for travels.

FlyClear / LifeLabs is an approved trusted testing and travel partner for Air Canada, United Airlines (operated by Air Canada) and WestJet ONLY. Customers flying on Air Canada, United Airlines (operated by Air Canada) or WestJet flights starting on December 17th will receive their airline’s specific State of Hawaii Trusted Partner COVID-19 Test Result Reporting form.
Unfortunately, at this time, customers travelling to Hawaii on other airlines will receive the standard LifeLabs doctor’s letter and results reports.
It is recommended that you bring a printed copy of your results and/or physician letter with you. Some travel destinations require you to upload a copy of your results before departure. Please check with your airline as well as your travel destination to ensure you fully understand their requirements for providing proof of test results.
In the event of a positive result, the healthcare provider named on your requisition will contact you directly. If you received a positive result, you must immediately self-isolate. You will be contacted by the public health authority in your province to monitor / guide follow-up. Consequently, the customer accepts the risk of any delays in any travel plan, reservation or deposit. LifeLabs will not be responsible or provide refunds for impact to travel plans due to a positive result. Positive test result information is also shared with appropriate public health authorities.
While rare, invalid/indeterminate results may occur. Normally, in these cases we ask customers to provide another sample for re-testing. If you are able to re-schedule your travel to a later date, re-testing may be right for you. There is no charge for a re-test following an invalid / indeterminate result. Unfortunately, due to the time-sensitive nature of FlyClear™ testing, if you receive an invalid result, and are unable to re-schedule your travel, you will be entitled to a full refund of the amount which you paid for the test. It is the traveler’s responsibility to ensure the FlyClear™ lab results and/or doctor’s letter will meet the requirements of the country they are flying to. To our knowledge, the physician letter and lab results provided to you will meet the requirements of the country you are flying to. The traveller accepts the risk of the country not accepting the results and doctor’s letter.
Only the healthcare provider named on your requisition and yourself will have access to your test results. If you receive a positive result, LifeLabs is required to provide your information and result to the appropriate Public Health unit. While much of our testing is performed within BC and Ontario, in certain circumstances, LifeLabs does work with reference laboratories in the US to perform some COVID testing services. When we do so, LifeLabs ensures that the laboratories comply with privacy requirements that are at least as stringent as the requirements with which LifeLabs complies. These requirements apply when the laboratory collects, uses or discloses personal information or personal health information and include administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect such information, and requirements on training and breach notification. Further, LifeLabs enters into a contract with the reference laboratory that includes requirements such as compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements and all applicable laboratory accreditation requirements.
Passcode must be minimum 10 characters long, include at least 1 uppercase, at least 1 lowercase, at least 1 special character.
Passcode should be hard to guess, not include common phrases and should not be reused between different accounts. Easy to guess, reuse of passcode increases the probability of your account being compromised
