How it works?
Frequently Asked Questions
MyVisit is a convenient way for you to have your blood and other medical samples collected at a location of your choice, and at a time that’s convenient for you. With MyVisit, a specially-trained LifeLabs technician will come to your home or workplace and collect your laboratory sample. The technician will safely transport the sample back to a LifeLabs laboratory where the tests on your samples will be completed. Test results will be sent directly to the doctor who made the requisition. You may also be able to view your results online using LifeLabs’ free results portal, by creating a MyCareCompass account.
All our technicians wear required personal protective equipment and are adhering to health protocols recommended by Health Canada. They are also trained on best practices to ensure their safety, and the safety of you and your loved ones. After every patient’s visit, all technicians will disinfect testing bags, the inside of their vehicles, and change personal protective equipment prior to visiting your home.
We are currently offering blood collection, ECG and Holter services and some specimen collection as part of the MyVisit™ service. There are some exceptions to the kinds of collections the technicians can do. If after you requested your appointment and uploaded your requisition and it falls into one of these exceptions, a program coordinator will email or call you to provide you with more information and you will not be charged for the MyVisit™ fee. If you prefer to contact someone to confirm if your request can be done prior to requesting the appointment, please email MyVisit@lifelabs.com for more information.
You can choose the date and time of your appointment for a $80 per person fee.
If you require a home service for medical reasons and your healthcare provider has faxed in your requisition (along with a note requesting your visit) you can receive a subsidized home visit for a fee. To learn more click here.
Sometimes, schedules can change unexpectedly.
Patients who cancel their appointments 24 hours before their appointment window will not be charged – we are more than happy to reschedule the appointment for a better time.
Patients who miss their scheduled MyVisit™ appointment, however, will be billed $30.
A technician will contact you within 7-10 days of receiving your requisition to let you know what time your appointment will be happening the next day.
If it has been more than 10 days, you can call our coordinators at 416-603-2446. We are currently experiencing higher than normal call volumes and responses to voicemails may be delayed.
