Empowering Healthier Canadians: A Sisterhood Advancing Care

At LifeLabs, we are proud Canadians, serving Canadians from coast to coast. In the “Empowering Healthier Canadians” story series, we showcase the inspiring voices of our team members as they share what fuels their passion for serving Canadian communities, advancing healthcare, and embracing innovative technologies.

In celebration of Family Day, we’re profiling Chemistry Medical Lab Technologist, Mina Selseleh, and Hematology Senior Medical Lab Technologist, Mona Selseleh, and how these two sisters exemplify LifeLabs’ commitment to high-quality service and community impact.

Growing up, Mina and Mona shared a passion for helping others, science, and healthcare. When Mona started at LifeLabs, she would often share stories with her sister about her pride in helping Canadians throughout their health journeys.

“Seeing this passion for her work and how much she valued the impact she had really inspired me to join as well,” said Mina

Throughout their time at LifeLabs, both sisters have supported each other. As the older sister, Mona is proud of how her younger sister has grown into her role, especially when she was recognized for her agility during a time-sensitive situation.

“She handled it with so much compassion and professionalism—it really reminded me of how much of a difference one person can make in healthcare,” said Mona.

Mina feels similar about her sister and how she leads with a customer-centred mindset.

“She works quickly to ensure accurate results that directly impact a patient’s diagnosis. I can always hear the pride in her voice, and it reminds me of how critical the work behind the scenes really is. It makes me proud not just as her sibling, but also as her colleague,” said Mina.

With both sisters having been at LifeLabs for nearly ten years, they feel fulfilled about the difference they’ve made and continue to make every single day.

Their relationship is a testament to how caring for one another, embracing agility, and prioritizing customers can empower healthier Canadians.

“It’s special to be on this journey together, using our training to contribute to patient care, and to share a common purpose in the work we do,” said Mona.
