Dr. Joanna Jung, PhD, FCACB, DABCC is a Clinical Chemist and holds the roles of Clinical Director for British Columbia and Lab Director for the Victoria Reference Laboratory. She has been with LifeLabs since 2021 where she oversees high volume biochemistry, immunoassays, and special chemistry assays while investigating the evaluation and utilization of novel laboratory tests to drive quality improvement and advance patient care.
Dr. Jung earned her PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Alberta in 2011. Following her PhD, she completed a Clinical Chemistry Fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She is also certified by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC).
Before joining LifeLabs, she held the role of Research Associate at the University of Alberta. She is currently a member of the Medical Biochemistry Advisory Committee (MBAC) which advises the Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services (PLMS). She has also published multiple research papers.
Dr Jung brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to LifeLabs ensuring that every test brings answers and reassurances that empower Canadians throughout their health journey.
