Dr. Leto joined LifeLabs as a consultant in Medical Microbiology in April 2012. As a member of the Medical-Scientific team, she is primarily responsible for bacteriology and parasitology at the Kennedy LifeLabs site. Areas of special clinical interest and expertise include infections in the immunocompromised host, especially bone marrow transplant patients and patients with hematological malignancies.
Dr. Leto obtained her medical degree from McMaster University. She proceeded to pursue her post-graduate specialties at McMaster University with residency training in medical microbiology, infectious diseases and internal medicine. Her clinical roles at McMaster include consulting services within the Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases division, dealing primarily with immunocompromised individuals. She is involved in teaching within both the undergraduate and postgraduate medical training programs at McMaster University and is the Program Director for the Medical Microbiology Residency Program.
