Quality Framework
LifeLabs is committed to ensuring a healthier you by compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and maintaining an effective quality management system. LifeLabs has a long-standing commitment to Quality serving Canadians for over 60 years. We seek to continuously improve our services as part of our quality objectives.
The LifeLabs Quality Framework is based on ISO 15189:2022 and covers all phases of the testing process. The Quality Framework includes policies and procedures to document, measure, and monitor the effectiveness of laboratory operations in providing quality, improving quality, and meeting the regulatory requirements of the agencies governing the laboratory industry in Canada.
Quality Improvement
As part of the Quality Framework LifeLabs management and staff have made a commitment to continuous improvement.
LifeLabs identifies opportunities for improvement through monitoring of system metrics, risk assessments, feedback from customers and investigating advances in Laboratory medicine. LifeLabs is regularly updating its policies and processes to meet evidence based medical requirements and provincial regulatory standards.
Common LifeLabs improvement initiatives include:
- Adding new tests, updating testing methodologies and instruments
- Updating processes to make them more efficient and/or user friendly
- Updating software including adding functionality and improving ease of use
- Improving customer service, patient safety and compliance through ongoing staff training and competency assessment.
