What is the Hormone Health (Testosterone) Test?
The Hormone Health (Testosterone) test measures how much testosterone your body produces and how much is available for use.
This test measures:
- Free Testosterone
- Bioavailable Testosterone
- Total Testosterone
- Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG)
Together, these markers provide a picture of your testosterone balance, helping you and your healthcare provider assess whether your levels are low, normal, or elevated.
Who should consider this test?
This test may be helpful for anyone noticing changes in energy, mood, libido, muscle tone, or body composition.
- In men, testosterone imbalance can contribute to low energy, reduced sex drive, difficulty building muscle, or sleep changes.
- In women, higher testosterone levels can cause acne, hair changes, or irregular periods. This test is not designed to assess low testosterone in women.
A full list of possible symptoms can be found in the FAQs below.

Why is this test important?
Testosterone levels can change with age, stress, sleep, certain medications, lifestyle factors, or health conditions that affect hormone production. When levels are too low or too high, it can affect how you feel and function day to day.
Testing your testosterone levels can help you and your healthcare provider:
- Identify whether your levels are low, normal, or elevated
- Explore possible causes of symptoms like fatigue, mood changes, or changes in libido or muscle tone
- Track your hormone levels over time as part of your overall health assessment
