Dr. Ayesha Vawda, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Vawda joined the Hematology Department at LifeLabs in August 2014 in the role of Hematopathology Consultant. Her interests are focused on lymphoma, flow cytometry, lymph node morphology and molecular diagnostics. Her research concentrates on the role of the lymph node microenvironment in lymphoma pathogenesis.

Dr. Vawda completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Victoria in 2005 before obtaining her medical degree from the University of British Columbia in 2009. Her residency training in Hematological Pathology was undertaken at various hospitals in B.C. through the University of British Columbia. She served as chief resident in Hematopathology from 2012 to2013 and obtained her FRCPC certification in 2014. Dr. Vawda holds an appointment as Clinical Instructor with the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine at UBC. Dr. Vawda is the recipient of a number of academic and research awards and has been granted the Physician Leadership Institute certificate by the CMA.
