Dr. Daniela Leto joined LifeLabs as a consultant in Medical Microbiology in April 2012.
As a member of the Medical Scientific team, she contributes to the oversight of bacteriology, mycology, and molecular testing at the International Reference Laboratory (IRL) LifeLabs site.
Dr. Leto obtained her medical degree from McMaster University. She pursued her postgraduate specialties at McMaster University, where she completed residency training in medical microbiology, infectious diseases, and internal medicine.
In addition to her role at LifeLabs, she holds clinical positions at McMaster, including consulting services within the Infectious Diseases division, where she primarily works with immunocompromised individuals. She is an Associate Professor and the Associate Chair of Education in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University.
Dr. Leto holds hospital appointments at Hamilton Health Sciences and St Joesph’s Healthcare. Areas of special clinical interest and expertise include infections in the immunocompromised host, especially bone marrow transplant patients and patients with hematological malignancies.
Through her leadership and expertise, she applies skill, compassion and diligence to the practice of microbiology, advancing patient care while empowering healthier Canadians.
