LifeLabs is pleased to announce its latest recipients of the LifeLabs Family Scholarship Program. Each year, LifeLabs selects from among the dependent children of its employees to help fund their post-secondary education by awarding 10 scholarships to students who graduated high school in 2022. One additional scholarship is awarded by our insurance partner, The Co-operators.
The scholarships are awarded based on grades and examples of leadership, extracurricular activities, volunteering, and employment. As part of LifeLabs’ commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion through the Stronger Together program, an additional element to this year’s scholarship application was added through an essay question. Applicants were asked to illustrate in their response what diversity, equity and inclusion meant to them, and how they planned to carry forward these elements in their post-secondary journeys and beyond.
“Supporting youth with their educational aspirations fosters growth and hope for a successful future for everyone,” said Charles Brown, President and CEO of LifeLabs. “That begins by supporting the families and communities around us. We are so proud and excited to see the children of some of our wonderful team members move into their next journey in life. These students’ impressive submissions really painted a picture of the many wonderful opportunities and possibilities for the future. Congratulations to all the deserving winners and proud parents.”
Among the recipients of the scholarship are 5 students from British Columbia, and 6 students from Ontario who will be pursuing post-secondary programs such as:
- Political Science
- Behavioral Neuroscience
- Nursing
- Management and Organizational Studies
- Biomedical Physiology
- Education
“We are so grateful to LifeLabs for considering our daughter for the Family Scholarship Program.” said Leah De Asis, LifeLabs’ employee and proud parent of a scholarship recipient. “This support will be of great help towards her education. LifeLabs has always been a pillar of community service in Canada and this program is an example of how LifeLabs is helping employees and their families achieve their fullest potential to keep their hopes, dreams and aspirations alive.”
