Notice Regarding FOBT Cards

Please read below about a notice regarding expired FOBT cards being received at our laboratory.

The laboratory is beginning to receive FOBT cards, completed by patients, which are past their expiry date.  These cards cannot be tested.  The patient has to be recalled and the samples recollected.  This means that the patient has lost time in obtaining results and has the inconvenience of going through another set of collections.
We acknowledge that sometimes there is a delay between the patient receiving the cards and performing the sampling.  This means that a card that was within the expiry date when provided to the patient may be past expiry when the sample collection is done.

What This Means to You
To prevent receiving expired FOBT cards, we ask you to review your inventory and remove any expired cards as well as cards with an upcoming expiry date.  We suggest that cards should be removed from inventory at least 1 month before their expiry date.  This should allow for delays in sample collection and delivery to the laboratory.

Note that this applies to both the red (non-program) and the green (program) cards.
