Dr. Jan Palaty, PhD, FCACB

Dr. Palaty has worked as a Clinical Biochemist with LifeLabs since 2005. Based in our Burnaby Lab in the toxicology department, he has a particular interest in clinical applications of mass spectrometry and focuses his research on substance disorders. In collaboration with Dr. Danijela Konforte, Dr. Palaty helped to develop a transformational approach to testing for drugs in a patient’s system, the Comprehensive Drug Analysis. This new, proprietary, and simplified approach detects up to 200 drug targets in a patient’s system with a single test and provides results quickly and accurate to help save lives.

Dr. Palaty obtained a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of BC in 1995. He received his certification in Clinical Biochemistry from the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemists (CACB) in 2001. Dr. Palaty is a Clinical Instructor with the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia. He has several published papers.
