On-Arrival COVID-19 Testing
for
Travellers Entering Canada

The Government of Canada has selected you for on-arrival COVID-19 testing.

So, what’s next?

LifeLabs offers TWO options to support you with the testing mandate.

Please review the steps below to choose an option that is right for you.

OPTION 1: IN PERSON COLLECTION

You can visit any participating location to complete your sample collection for laboratory testing.
You MUST complete registration before visiting an in-person location.

1. Register​

Before you proceed with on-arrival testing, you MUST complete your kit registration.​ ​

NOTE: Your collection MUST be monitored by a LifeLabs technician or a designated onsite collector to be valid, and kits MUST be registered to connect results back to you.​ Failure to do so will result in your specimen being rejected and could create a delay to when you can legally end your quarantine.​

2. Find a location​

Note for in-person collection:

  1. You must bring your FlyClear order ID (LL#) found in your confirmation e-mail.
  2. Bring the travel document you used to complete your ArriveCan registration for identification.
  3. If you received a kit, please bring the kit to the participating location for in-person collection. If you don’t have a kit, the testing location will have kits available.

OPTION 2: VIRTUAL SELF-COLLECTION

You can complete the sample collection for laboratory testing from the comfort of your home by booking a video appointment with a trained technician.
All you need is a computer or a smartphone with a camera/microphone, internet connection and COVID-19 Home Collection Kit, which can either be picked up at a participating LifeLabs location or ordered online through the FlyClear registration portal.

IMPORTANT: Kits ordered online may take more than 24 hours to be delivered. If the kit order request is submitted after 4pm (local time) Monday to Thursday, or on a weekend (Friday-Sunday), it is unlikely that you will receive the kit in time to complete your sample collection within one day of arrival in Canada.

2. Get a kit – Two options​

1. Pick up a kit:

You can visit a participating location to pick up a kit. Click on the button below to find a location near you.

Note: Before you visit a location for kit pick-up:

  1. Keep your order ID and ArriveCan e-receipt number handy.
  2. Bring the travel document you used to complete your ArriveCan registration for identification. 

Hours of operations vary by kit pick-up location. Consider getting tested in-person if you require testing over a holiday or weekend.

2. Request a kit:

You can request a kit to be delivered to your home. Click on the link below to submit a request through the FlyClear portal and a kit will be shipped to you.

IMPORTANT: KITS MAY TAKE OVER 24 HOURS TO DELIVER.

If the kit request is submitted after 4pm (local time) Monday to Thursday, or on a weekend (Friday-Sunday), it is unlikely that you will receive the kit in time to complete your sample collection within one day of arrival in Canada.  To avoid potential delays, you can pick up a kit from a participating location as described above.  Alternatively, if there are no locations available/open for kit pick up, please refer to “OPTION 1: IN-PERSON COLLECTION” for instructions to complete your sample collection in-person.

3. Book Appointment

Book your COVID-19 virtual appointment through the FlyClear™ portal after you have completed kit registration.

4. Sample Collection

If you book a virtual appointment, you will receive an appointment confirmation email with a link. On the day and time of your appointment, click on the link to connect to a LifeLabs technician, who will guide you through your self-collection.

5. Sample Drop-off or Schedule a pick-up – Two options

1. Sample drop-off at a participating location:

You can arrange to drop off your sample the same day or within the next day at any  ONE  of the participating locations.

2. FedEx pick-up:

Once your sample collection is complete, schedule a FedEx pick up.

Note: If you do not qualify for a FedEx pick up or if you collected your sample after 10 am on a Friday, please arrange to drop off your sample at a participating location. This will ensure your sample is processed at our lab and results are provided to you within 72 hours of the sample being dropped off.

6. Obtain Results​

Within 72 hours of your sample being dropped off or picked up, you will receive a results notification email containing a secure link to your results.
