  • Sue Paish

    Chief Executive Officer

    As President & CEO of LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services, Sue Paish leads the strategy and growth of Canada's largest provider of community laboratory testing services. Since 2012, Sue led the doubling of LifeLabs' market presence through two of the largest acquisitions in the Canadian diagnostics sector; with the successful integration of these acquisitions anticipated for mid- 2017. Sue has also led the development of material growth opportunities in new markets including genetics and digital health.

    Prior to joining LifeLabs, Sue was the CEO of Pharmasave Drugs (National) Ltd. where she was responsible for the strategic leadership of Pharmasave's over 460 community retail pharmacies across Canada. From 2000 – 2007, Sue was the Managing Partner at Fasken, one of Canada's largest law firms, where she grew the firm from one office to an international platform with nine offices on three continents, while inspiring a customer and community-centered culture.

    Sue is a recognized community and business leader and currently serves on the Boards of several leading community organizations including:  Governor, Vancouver Board of Trade; Director, Sauder School of Business Advisory Board; Director, CORIX Group of Companies; Member, Advisory Board of Guelph Family Health; and Director and Executive Committee member, The Business Council of British Columbia.

    Sue received her Queen's Counsel in 2000 and became a member of the Hall of Fame of Canada's Most Powerful Women in 2012. Sue has also been recognized as one of British Columbia's Most Influential Women, a Distinguished Alumnae from the UBC Law School, and was recently recognized with the 2016 YWCA Vancouver Woman of Distinction award.

    Sue earned her Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of British Columbia.

  • Frank Amodeo

    Senior Vice-President, Corporate Services

    As Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, Frank leads the development of LifeLabs' services and expertise that support the direct provision of lab services, including Procurement, Real Estate and Facilities, Project Management, and Government contract management.

    Frank's extensive experience in the medical diagnostics industry began in 1990 with LifeLabs' predecessor organization, MDS Laboratories. Since then, he has held progressively senior positions in Finance and Operations. Over the years, Frank has played a key role in representing LifeLabs across Canada with government customers, competitors and industry associations such as the Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories. Frank has also been instrumental in working with industry leaders to build partnerships that advance the state of Canadian health care, such as Toronto Medical Labs, Excelleris, Calgary Lab Services, and DynaLife.

    Frank holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and is a CPA-Chartered Accountant.

  • Pierre Bou-Mansour

    Chief Operating Officer

    As Chief Operating Officer, Pierre oversees and leads LifeLabs’ complete value stream from specimen collection to testing operations and results reporting across Canada, with a focus on delivering the highest levels of quality and reliability, while working to elevate employee engagement. Collaborating with the entire LifeLabs leadership team, Pierre is accountable for developing and implementing strategies that continue to position LifeLabs as an industry leader. Together these innovative services, technologies and processes enhance our quality and overall effectiveness, supporting our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of Canadians as we build a healthier Canada.

    Pierre’s areas of accountability include Specimen collection and Client Services, Logistics, Laboratory Operations, Quality and Regulatory Affairs, Medical Scientific group, Operations Support, Process Engineering, Continuous Improvement and Operations Analytical Systems.

    When Pierre joined LifeLabs in 2011, he brought with him over two decades of global experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, eye care, manufacturing, production, and automotive. With deep operations experience and expertise in lean practices, Pierre led the global implementation of Lean Operations and Process Excellence strategies at multiple companies across the globe, inlcuding "brownfield" and greenfield facilities in China, India, Thailand, Russia, Korea, Germany, England and Mexico.

    Pierre has an Electrical Engineering Diploma from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia. Pierre is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), and is fluent in Arabic, French, and German.

  • Chris Carson

    Vice-President, Partner Relations

    As Vice President, Partner Relations, Chris is responsible for renewing and building relationships with governments across the country while enhancing LifeLabs’ external presence. Working closely with the CEO and other members of the executive team, Chris deepens relationships with LifeLabs’ partners across Canada, supporting LifeLabs’ mission of building a healthier Canada.

    Before joining LifeLabs, Chris spent many years serving in the Ontario government in a variety of roles, including Chief of Staff to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. Most recently, Chris served as Associate Vice President at Trillium Health Partners where he oversaw a public affairs portfolio while helping lead health system transformation projects to drive the shift of care from hospitals to the community.

    Chris earned an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario with a Health Sector specialization, and completed his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree at Queen’s University in Political Studies.

  • Joby McKenzie

    Senior Vice President, Business Development

    As Senior Vice President, Business Development, Joby is responsible for overseeing and leading the implementation of our business development strategy. Working with a team of cross-functional experts, Joby identifies opportunities for new product and service development to support our long-term growth in new and existing markets. Joby has also played an instrumental role in leading the integration of CML, BC Bio and LifeLabs and creating the foundation necessary to enable the continued growth of the organization.

    Prior to joining LifeLabs, Joby was a consultant with the Boston Consultant Group (BCG) where she led project teams who provided advice to organizations across various sectors regarding business strategy, organizational transformations and operational efficiency.

    Joby holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University; a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD), Molecular and Medical Genetics, from the University of Toronto; and a Masters in Business Administration, with a specialization in health care from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

    As an athlete, Joby also represented Canada at international tournaments and was part of the basketball team that won a silver medal at the Pan-American games and qualified for the 2000 Olympics.

  • Donna Wilson

    Senior Vice-President, People, Community and Strategy

    As SVP, People, Community and Strategy, Donna is responsible for leading LifeLabs’ Human Resources, Labour Relations, Government Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility and Customer Experience functions. Partnering with the CEO and the executive team, Donna leads the strategy talent development across the organization while working to build a customer-driven culture.

    Prior to joining LifeLabs, Donna was VP, Industry Services and Sustainability at WorkSafeBC where she was responsible for leading five operational areas. From 2005 to 2010, she was the Executive VP, Workforce and Sustainability at the Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee (VANOC). In addition to leading the hiring of a workforce of over 25,000, Donna played a key role in the development of an ‘extraordinary’ Games culture and oversaw the strategic direction and project leadership for sustainability and aboriginal participation in the 2010 Games. Throughout her career, Donna held progressively senior roles at Vancity Credit Union, BC Hydro, Canadian Airlines International and the BC Nurses Union.

    Donna participates as a Director on the Board of BCIT Foundation, Director and Chair of the Governance Committee on the Board of Parachute Canada, a national organization focused on preventing injuries and saving the lives of Canadians of all ages. From 2001-2015, Donna served as Chair for the board of Decoda Literacy Solutions, an organization that supports community-based literacy programs and initiatives in over 400 communities across British Columbia.

    Donna holds a B.A. Psychology from Simon Fraser University, an Executive Management Certificate from Queens University, and is a Chartered Director (McMaster University).

  • Akiko Campbell

    Chief Information Officer

    As Chief Information Officer, Akiko leads LifeLabs' information technology and e-health strategies. Leveraging two decades of system engineering and information technology experience, Akiko is responsible for ensuring that LifeLabs is a recognized industry leader for our innovation and investment in technology. In addition to being a key member of LifeLabs' Executive Leadership team, Akiko is also Chief Executive Officer of Excelleris Technologies Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of LifeLabs.

    Prior to joining LifeLabs, Akiko spent eight years at Pacific Blue Cross, B.C.'s leading provider of private health insurance, where she was instrumental in designing and implementing one of the company’s largest organizational transformation programs. As a member of the IT senior leadership team, Akiko led Enterprise Architecture to transform legacy systems to state-of-the-art systems. Akiko also established the Innovation Centre to help IT drive technology-based innovation for increased customer satisfaction.

    Akiko holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Linguistics from Keio University (Tokyo, Japan) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University.

  • Joe Purchio

    Chief Financial Officer (Interim)

    As Chief Financial Officer, Joe is responsible for overseeing LifeLabs’ financial activities and operations. Joe’s portfolio includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, credit and collections, controllership, tax, treasury, strategic and financial planning, decision optimization, corporate development, enterprise risk management, internal audit, legal, privacy, and finance project management functions. Joe assesses financial risks and opportunities, performs detailed analysis that helps LifeLabs meet its short- and long-term financial goals, and develops strategies that improve revenue, profitability, and cash flow.

    Prior to joining LifeLabs, Joe was Director of Finance – Sales, Distribution, and Business Development at Rogers Communications. In this role, Joe was responsible for the planning, reporting, analysis, and interpretation of financial/statistical information and also provided strategic and financial expertise on business issues and in support of new business opportunities.

    Joe holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University, an MBA in Strategic Marketing from McMaster University, and earned his CPA and CMA professional accounting designations.
